Crisis Hit BENUE PDP As Party Leadership Fight Dirty

Crisis has hit the Peoples Democratic Party in BENUE state following rumors of conflicted interest by the party leadership.

It's been reported that the fight began immediately after the governor of Rivers state, Nyesome Wike lost out on the presidential nomination which produced Atiku Abubakar as it flagbearer. As if that wasn't a slap to his face already after painfully funding the party,he was once again denied the running mate to Atiku even though the committee had recommended he be made the VP.

Sandra Aboh in a newly published article titled , "BENUE PDP in disarray, Faces unavoidable defeat" gave a comprehensive breakdown of the crisis that is rocking the ruling PDP in the state before the 2023 general elections. She wrote;

"One may wonder why members of the PDP in Benue have been very jittery and have resorted to frivolities by constantly attacking the Candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Very Revd. Fr. Hyacinth Alia whose popularity has dashed the hope of PDP winning any election in Benue State come 2023.

"Apart from Alia's popularity, the PDP has fronted the least qualified amongst all those who indicated interest to vie for the office of Governor on it's platform. It is not news that professors, Doctorate Degree Holders and other well experienced technocrats indicated interest to contest for Governor on the platform of PDP, but instead of picking from these legion of competent hands, the Governor in a dramatic twist, picked his stooge, Titus Uba to the chagrin and bewilderment of many party members who have now left the Governor and his stooge to campaign for themselves and contend with the people of Benue State in 2023.

"More so, Ortom's dismal performance for the past 7 years is too appalling for him to expect the people of Benue State to still reward him and his party. The only that looks like a project in Benue since Ortom became governor is the Tor Tiv palace. Interestingly, this is a project Local Government Chairmen pulled resources together to build. It goes without saying therefore that Ortom has done nothing worthy to be called a project. Non payment of salaries and gratuities, poor working condition for civil servants, lack of critical infrastructure, media propaganda and insults on the person of President Muhammadu Buhari are the achievements and hallmark of the Ortom administration.

"To make matters worse, in order to spite Akume, Ortom brought from retirement Sen. Iyorchia Ayu whom Senator George Akume had sent to retirement and made him a local man in Gboko. Typical of the person of Iyorchia Ayu, he became National Chairman through the support of Governor Ortom and his godfather, Governor Nyesom Wike. However, the same Ayu has now pitched tents with Atiku and has frustrated Wike's attempt to be the PDP presidential candidate. Recently, Sen. Ayu, Sen. David Mark, Atiku and a host of other PDP chieftains worked against Wike by picking Okowa as Atiku's running mate even when a committee set up to select a running mate for Atiku settled for Wike. This is also not unconnected with the fact that back home in Benue, Ortom has frustrated every candidate anointed by the PDP national chairman for all elective posts even in Gboko, prominent among which was Ortom's preference of John Dyegh over Mr. Atser who was Dr. Ayu's preferred candidate for the Gboko/Tarka House of Representatives.

"In a desperate bid to show that the PDP in Benue still has a lifeline, the Governor prevailed on his stooge Titus Uba to wed his wife in the Catholic Church. This is the same man who unconfirmed rumors are to the effect that he physically abuses his wife. The Governor also organised a thanksgiving mass in Gboko in Bishop Avenya's Catholic Cathedral, the same Bishop his media dogs insulted in time past when the Bishop enforced Church rules by stopping the Governor from using his pulpit to spread lies.

"Interestingly, Sen. David Mark, Sen. Iyorchia Ayu, Sen. Gabriel Suswam and some other political heavyweights who are fed up with Ortom's political gangsterism were conspicuously absent and have stayed away from many political activities in Benue.
Many of them have given up as they have seen that Ortom's appalling leadership in Benue is bound to bring them nothing but absolute defeat come 2023 and no amount of political grandstanding using the Anti Open Grazing Law can resuscitate the soul of PDP in Benue which is now on life support and is headed for hades with no hope of rising again".
