Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar has been accused of abandoning his party in Ekiti state before and after election. The presidential candidate who was supposed to be campaigning for his political party was spotted lounging in Dubai as his party suffers defeat and his followers are calling him out on social media.
H.E Atiku didn't step foot in Ekiti State and no one talked but Peter Obi should be dancing “Put your fingers in the air” in Ekiti State 🤡". SportsDokita tweeted.
"This is d same thing he did in 2019 after PDP lost the elections. He went to Dubai and it was Wike who brought the party back and funded them. Now he is back and doing the same thing. His only concern is to become president nothing else matters to him. Wike is just watching them". -Another person wrote.
Another social media user by the name firstladyship wrote; " I wonder why Atiku was not in Ekiti? Are u sure he won’t fly to Dubai b4 Osun Election? The PDP is as useless as they were in 2015. They’ll never amount to anything. Just OLD men masquerading around town with imaginary structures & lost glory. Peter Obi should go Osun?😂".
Meanwhile, the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC has declared Mr Biodun Oyebanji of the All Progressives Congress as winner of the 2022 Ekiti governorship election.
Mr Oyebanji polled a total of 187,057 votes to defeat his two closest challengers – Segun Oni of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and Bisi Kolawole of the People’s Democratic Party.
The SDP emerged in second place with total votes of 82,211 while the PDP was third with 67,457 votes
Oyebanji is now set to replace incumbent Kayode Fayemi in October.
“No society can grow greater than the vision and dream of its leader,” Oyebanji said during last week’s Ekiti governorship debate, one of his final public appeals to voters.
“I am offering myself to lead our people into a prosperous society.
“I am bringing to the table 11 years of experience in the public service at the state level, and two years at the federal level.
“I am going to aggregate the best brains of Ekiti all over the world to help me achieve my dreams.”
The election, which was marred with reports of vote-buying and violence, was largely peaceful, independent observers said.
Congratulations to him
