Governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu, has reportedly passed away at the age of 67.
This comes just two weeks after the ailing governor reportedly embarked on a medical trip to Germany, his second in about four months.
According to SaharaReporters, a family source revealed on Wednesday, December 27 that Akeredolu died in Lagos.
The newspaper reported that he was cared for by State House doctors until his death because they were unable to take him abroad.
“Akeredolu is dead; he died in Lagos. They were looking for a dialysis machine to send to his secret location in Lagos last week,” the source said.
Recall that the ailing governor returned to Nigeria in September after three months of sick leave in Germany and only recently took another leave after President Bola Tinubu asked him to hand over power to his deputy , Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
His deputy, Aiyedatiwa, served as interim governor.
