Nigeria has so many beautiful tourist destinations that go unrecorded and it's sad.
Today, I came across these stunning photos posted by Twitter user Spotlight Abby comparing a village in Nigeria's Yobe State to Dubai and you could mistake them for the Dubai desert.
She writes:
“This is Tulotulo village in Yusufari LGA, Yobe State, Nigeria, not Dubai.”
So I decided to do some research and found out that his story was true.
According to the Nigerian Gallery website, Tulo Tulo, also known as the “Desert Land of Hope”, is located in Yusufari LGA, Yobe State. It is a wet oasis with abundant water in a low valley that offers picturesque desert scenery. “Tulo-Tulo” simply means marshy land with abundant water. The village is located in a lower valley and surrounded by palm trees between five hills. Tulo-Tulowa was born about a century ago when nomadic herders from the Geidam local government migrated there in search of greener pastures.
The settlement is located near OASIS on the desert island and about 105 km north of Nguru, on the desert border with the Republic of Niger. The village also has other oases with red hilly landscapes, creating a picturesque scene. Tulo-Tulowa is blessed with fertile land and rich mineral resources. Potash, also known as black salt (Kanwa), is available in commercial quantities. Camel caravans can be seen carrying potash to Geidam and Gashua in exchange for food. It recalls the ancient trans-Saharan trade. Access to Tulo-Tulowa is by 4-wheel drive vehicle.
Take a look at some of our amazing photos taken from the tourist destination.
