How Justice Margaret Igbetar Was Murdered In Makurdi

 Benue reknowned lawyer, Justice Mary Igbetar has reportedly been murdered in makurdi BENUE state police report says. 
  According to police PPRO, Sewuese Anene,a search conducted within her house at Wantor Kwange street, Gboko road, Makurdi led to the discovery of her dead body.  
 
 Police Public Relations, SP Sewuese Anene disclosed this in a statement released Saturday morning she said, a search conducted within her house at Wantor Kwange street, Gboko road, Makurdi led to the discovery of her dead body in a pool of blood inside her kitchen. 
 
 It was also observed that she had deep cuts at her back.” 
 
 The PPRO added that “Further investigation led to the arrest of one Aondohemba Joseph and recovery of exhibits for detailed investigation.” 
 
 “On 24/8/2023 at about 1530hrs information was received at ‘E’ Police Division Makurdi, that Justice Margaret Mary Igbetar (rtd) could not respond to calls and was no where to be found. 
  Detectives were immediately deployed for investigation.” The police added.  Benue State Police Commissioner KP offers condolences to the  family and friends of the  deceased. PSC  Bartholomew Nnamdi  Onyeka(+)  condemned this  wicked  act. 
  He  assured  them  that He was ready  to  reveal  the mystery  of  death and  to judge those who perpetrated  this barbaric  act.  

NAN reports  that Igbetar was born on October 17,  1950  in Mbape, Shangev-ya, Tsar-Mbaduku,  Vandeikya Local Government  Area,  Benue State. 
  She  began  her career as  an Assistant Registrar at  the  First Class District Court in  Katsina-Ala, Benue State in  1971  and  became  a Judge of the  Common  Court of  Appeals  in 1995, a position she  held.  held  until 2003,  when she was appointed  court president.  
 Igbetar  is  a founding member of the International Federation of Women  Lawyers in the State of Benue,  a  lifetime  member, the first  President  of the Benue branch and  the  association's national trustee.  
 The late  judge was  a member  of  the  Bauchi State Election Appeals Court from 1998 to 1999, the Imo/Abia State Parliamentary  Election Petition  Court  1999 and the  Governor of  Kebbi State.  
 She was also a member of the  Constitution Review  Committee  in  1999  in 2000.
