UPDATE: Appeal Court Delivers Judgement In The Case Of Terhemba Shija ,Gemade Vs Rev. Alia Hyacinth



The court of Appeal sitting in Makurdi,BENUE state today 23rd, January 2023 delivered  judgement on who is the authentic candidate of the  All Progressive Congress (APC) BENUE chapter.


Recall, the APC had 8months ago conducted it primaries election in Benue state where Rev.Fr Alia Hyacinth was declared the flaggbear of the party after defeating San. Mike Aondoakka, Prof. Terhemba Shija , Senator Barnabas Gemade, others. Shortly after the election,the aggrieved governorship candidates took the party to court seeking redress and finally,we have a judgement.

According to Kulas Tersoo, the media aide to Fr. Alia. He broke down the case thus;

1. The Terhemba Shija vs Alia (2nd Appeal)

Appeal allowed.

The Court of Appeal held that the gubernatorial primaries elections held on the 9th June 2022 was valid and the scores by aspirants equally stand.

The court has ordered a rerun in 11 Local Government Area in Benue state.


It said that the scores emanating from the court ordered rerun in 11 LGAs in Benue state be added to those of the first rerun ordered by the NWC of the APC and the candidate with the highest votes cast shall be declared winner.


2. In the Gemade Appeal vs Alia

The court agreed with the trial court. The case suffered a still-birth.

The Court of Appeal also affirmed the process that led to the declaration of Rev. Fr Alia as the choice of the majority of the Benue APC faithful.


The eleven (11) local government that a rerun election is to be conducted are;


a. Tarkaa

b. Guma

c. Makurdi

d. Gwer East

e. Gwer West

f. Gboko

g. Buruku

h. Vandeikya

I. Katsina Ala

J. Logo

The explanation above has however, put to rest the speculations that Rev. Fr Alia Hyacinth's was disqualified as no such judgement took place.
