Why Fr. Alia Is More Qualified To Be Governor Than Ortom

Governor Samuel Ortom of BENUE state on Sunday,after a Thanksgiving service in Gboko,told the people why Rev. Fr Hyacinth Iornem Alia was not qualified to govern the state. 

Ortom, during his speech claimed he had gotten a copy of the APC register from Vandeikya and Alia's name was not found in it. After the governor made the claim,so many BENUE indigenes came out to counter the governor for making such false declaration in public.

 Aoraan Festus from Abuja replying to the governor wrote;

"A statement has been credited to the Governor of Benue State, Mr. Samuel Ortom where he is quoted to have made insinuations that Very Revd. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Alia is not qualified to be governor of Benue State.

Unfortunately, the Governor failed to give any cogent reason as to why he made such baseless and unfounded insinuation.

It is imperative to note that Fr. Alia's qualification to occupy any political office in the world is not in doubt. If someone like Ortom can occupy the office of Governor, then Fr. Alia is more than qualified to occupy any political office in the world, much less the office of Benue State Governor currently occupied by Ortom who was rated as the least qualified person in 2014 by the People's Democratic Party Screening Committee. It is no news that when the panel secreened candidates who vied for the office of Benue State Governor, Barr. Alex Adum who is now Ortom's appointee and cheerleader was rated higher and above all other Aspirants while Ortom was the least qualified in terms of qualification, Experience and preparedness. In fact Ortom had no blueprint. He merely came with stories of how the holy spirit told him in 1993 that he was going to be governor some day and how we was a motor park tout until the day he came across a mysterious piece of paper flying around.

This is the same man who is telling a man with multiple academic certificates and who is well travelled and has worked in various countries of the world that he is not qualified to be governor.

Let it be known that only Ortom knows what he means when he says he acquired his Doctorate Degree "through distant learning" . Yet he is governor of Benue State but believes a man who dutifully went to renowned schools in Nigeria and abroad is not qualified to be Benue State Governor.

While telling the whole world that Fr. Alia is not qualified to be governor, Ortom has handed the Gubernatorial ticket of the PDP in Benue State to the least qualified person who contested for that ticket - a man who is no match to Fr. Alia in any way, a man who travelled out of Nigeria for the first time when he became speaker just recently.

Having reduced the intellectual in Benue to his political hallelujah boys and cheerleaders, Ortom is bent on handing over Benue to a man who is worst than him. This affliction shall not rise again as long as the Lord liveth.

We have learnt our lessons and have received the divine revelation and strength to make the right choice this time".

Also, the All Progressive Congress (APC) Benue State chapter through it Publicity Secretary,Daniel Morgan Ihyomun reacting to the governor's speech issued a press release urging it supporters not to be moved by the governor's desperate kick. The statement reads:

"The All Progressives Congress in Benue state urges her teaming supporters across the state not to be moved by the desperate kicks of the People's Democratic Party in the state which has occupied itself with the winner of the APC governorship primaries, Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia.

People of the state can recall that ever since joining  the APC and going ahead to win the party's governorship primaries, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia has remained the nightmare and boogeyman of the PDP with the state chapter praying that they rather not have him on the ballot in 2023 which is the only way they can signal any hope of maintaining their grip on the state's treasury.

The PDP and her uncouth members have resorted to fake news and fabricated stories to misinform the public and instill doubts on the status of our candidate. We like to state that for the avoidance of doubt, Rev. Fr Hyacinth Alia remains the winner of the APC governorship primaries in Benue state and the authentic candidate and standard-bearer of our party in the state.

This is the reality the PDP fears but must ultimately face in the end as the day of the ballot draws closer. We urge the PDP to rather concentrate on their huge and impossible task of marketing the liability it has imposed on itself as governorship candidate which has been rejected by people of Benue state even before the ballot.

We commend our teeming members and supporters across the state for being resolute, unshakable and steadfast in their support for us and Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia as a prelude to reclaiming the lost glory of our dear state and assure them that both our party the APC and it's governorship candidate stand on very solid grounds in the pursuit of these objectives.

People of Benue state especially members of the APC are to disregard concocted stories from the PDP and consider their propaganda as the last kicks of a dying horse".
