It's no longer news that the BENUE state chapter of the All Progressive Congress ,APC,has been emeshed in controversy following the recently conducted "Direct primaries" in the state where it produced candidates on their platform to fly the party's flag at the 2023 general elections.
So far, the names of candidates for all state assembly, representatives, senatorial and that of governorship has been released and the one which has been received with mixed reaction is that of governorship which produced Rev.Dr. Hyacinth Iornem Alia as it winner. Inspite of his massive following.
Dr Alia, contested with over eleven candidates namely; Sen. Barnabas Gemade, Barr. Sam Ode, Hon. Herman Hembe, Chief Steven Lawani, Dr Mathias Byuan, Terwase Orbunde, Prof. Terhemba Shija, Arc. Benard Yisa, Edwin Tyoachimin ,Terlumun Ikya and Former Attorney General of the Federation, Michael Kaase Aondoakaa.
Shortly after the primary result was announced, most governorship aspirants issued press releases rejecting the outcome of the exercise calling it a "sham and fraud" process demanding total cancellation.
However, it seems the party leadership has listened as they have issued a press statement to address the controversy.
Reacting to the aggrieved Guber aspirants complain was Princess Uzoama Onyema, the Chairperson of the Benue State APC Appeals Panel. She said;
“Benue APC Publicity Secretary, take this message to your Chairman, you people have failed us.Ladies and gentlemen, we have come to a final conclusion.I wish you all that you wish yourselves. If you wish to do injustice, you will fail, if you wish to do good, you do good.It is up to you whether you want to win this state or you want to lose it.“We have come, we have seen, we have heard and we will deliver our bombshell according to justice with the fear of God,”
