News has broke that Mr Samuel Ortom , who is the immediate past Governor of Benue State has landed in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) today being 20th June 2023 , various sources confirms.
This is coming barely a month after the end of his administration which has left many months of unpaid salaries , arrears and over 60 months of unpaid pensioners salaries.
It was gathered that the ex-Governor who has been under investigation as regards to his eight years reign in office was invited by the anti-graft body for questioning.
Unlike former governor Rochas Okorocha who was forcefully bundled out of his home for trying to evade arrest, Mr Ortom, however, voluntarily drove into the Makurdi zonal office of the anti-graft premises at exactly 10:18am to avoid harassment.
As at the time of writing this report , our sources confirmed that the former governor had not left the office of the anti-graft agency.
It could be recalled that Mr Ortom handed over a whopping debt profile of N187.7 billion to the administration of Reverend Father Hyacinth Alia and his invitation did not come as a surprise as many insinuated that it was supposed to come earlier.
Social Media users while reacting to the news, stated quoting the governor's speech of 2015 where he had said "If you chop money ,money will chop you" meaning If you embezzle money you'd give accountability.
