Ngumimi Linda Kachina

In this photo is a BENUE Housewife, Ngumimi Linda Kachina who has passed after suffering a tumultuous marriage of 14years full of  domestic violence, others.

Ngumimi , who for years was trying to have a baby left behind an infant child of just 2 months and her experience in the marriage been told has spark discussions online.

Read the story below as shared by Orfega Kachina & family.

NGUMIMI LINDA KACHINA  - IYORTSUUN (16TH MARCH 1982 - 20TH JUNE 2023): LIFE AND TIME IN PAINS, BATTLES AND CHALLENGES TO DEATH.

The late Ngumimi was born to the family of the late Pa Targema Kachina in Mbayenge, Mbaterem, Ukum LGA of Benue State, Nigeria. Her mother is Mrs Rhoda Zungwem Kachina, her maternal grandpa is late Jotham Iordoo Yakubu Amaichigh from Ukum LGA, and late Ngumimi’s grandma (Miriam Ina Yakubu-Shande) was from the late Rev. Tar Shande family, Kwande LGA.

Ngumimi schooled at the College Practising School Katsina-Ala, Federal Government College Wukari, NKST Uavande Girls Secondary School, University of Abuja (BSc Sociology), and Benue State University (M.Sc Sciology - Gender Studies). After her studies,
Ngumimi worked with the Benue State Television/Ministry of Information, then finally with National Examination Council NECO, Makurdi, before her demise.

Ngumimi was calm, gentle, and social before her marriage. She was a communicant member of NKST Church (URCC) High Level Makurdi. Ngumimi siblings are: Acct Doose Joyce Iorpuu nee Kachina with NECO. TPL Orfega Kachina with Ministry of Housing & Urban Development, and Arc Tersoo Kachina with SUBEB.

MARRIAGE, DEATH & INLAW/FAMILY RELATIONSHIPS

Ngumimi got married to Mr. Shadrach Akuraun Iyortsuun, of Ikurav Ya, Kwande LGA of Benue State about 14 years ago, a lecturer with the Federal University of Wukari.
The first day, the Iyortsuun family came for the marriage introduction for Ngumimi, some of us in the Kachina family raised concerns about the late Dr Peter Iyortsuun family marrying our dear late sister Ngumimi because of Dr. Peter Iyortsuun marriage crisis with his first to second and third wives; as well as the misdemeanour of the other Iyortsuun’s children we knew, so we were scared of Akuraun Iyortsuun marrying Ngumimi. The final decision to marry Akuraun was given by Ngumimi in 2009.

The Kachina and Yakubu Amachigh families stood firm to support their marriage spiritually, financially, morally, physically, and all wise until the demise of Ngumimi.

In the course of the marriage, Ngumimi suffered a lot of anxiety, trauma, social embarrassment, and physical torture from the husband, Shadrach Akuraun Iyortsuun. Our late father, Pa Targema Kachina, got Ngumimi a job with the Benue State Television/Ministry of Information to sustain her.

Ngumimi could not give birth early/from the beginning of the marriage. The Kachina and Yakubu families stood up to support Ngumimi & Akuraun together to seek medical attention for the fruit of the womb from Benue State, Niger State, Abuja, and the USA. The option from USA to Nigeria was conception through IVF, which Akuraun refused.

Due to the high cost of medical bills, the Kachina family got a better job with NECO for Ngumimi to sustain her medical treatments and upkeep. The husband refused Ngumimi accepting the NECO job. It was after a series of family interventions that he allowed Mimi to work with NECO, which Akuraun has been benefiting from to date to sustain his family and second wife and kids (family). This was the NECO job that Akuraun abused the Kachina family over, but he's the one who ended up benefiting the most.

In 2020, while Ngumimi was still following up her fruit of the womb treatment, Akuraun met another lady outside his matrimonial home, and she became pregnant for him and the lady delivered the newborn baby in January 2021. Ngumimi called the attention of her parents and  siblings over Akuraun’s newborn baby outside of their matrimonial home. Ngumimi’s family members met with Akuraun Iyortsuun family, and the Kachina family told Akuraun Iyortsuun family that even if Ngumimi was not giving birth, she should be treated of fibroid, which Akuraun was refusing to do until after the meeting of both families. Ngumimi had fibroid surgery around the middle of 2021. We started suspecting that since Mimi is not giving birth, Akuraun may want Mimi’s death for him to openly marry another wife since he was denying Ngumimi treatments even with Mimi's own money.

Akuraun was excommunicated by the NKST Church (URCC) High Level Makurdi. In 2022, Akuraun had his second child with the same external lady. There is also speculation that the second wife is currently pregnant for the 3rd child. This generated another crisis between Ngumimi and Akuraun. It was after Akuraun’s external second child that he reluctantly accepted IVF pregnancy with Ngumimi. Basically, just to calm her to minimise pressures over Akuraun extra marital affairs, resulting in two kids with the same woman.

Ngumimi took in and was undergoing antenatal clinic at the National Hospital Abuja since October 2022 with financial support and other logistics from Ngumimi’s family as well. While Ngumimi was in Abuja with her elder sister undergoing antenatal clinic appointments, Akuraun, his siblings and other family members in December 2022 went to formalise the marriage relationship with the mother of his 2 children (who Akuraun heartlessly flaunted on his phone screen saver before Ngumimi and everyone. All these gave Ngumimi anxiety, trauma, and depression, which resulted in early pregnancy delivery through surgery before her expected surgery or delivery time, causing complications  and death in Abuja on the 20th of June, 2023.

Shadrach Akuraun Iyortsuun subjected Ngumimi to a third major surgery just between April 16, 2023 and June 19, 2023 despite the Kachina and Yakubu families’ warning to Akuraun not to give consent to the third surgery within a short time to the Medical Doctor, since Ngumimi just put to bed prematurely in April via CS, and had a subsequent surgery almost immediately after the first, she was still recovering and yet to regain herself fully. Regardless, Akuraun, with no medical background, drove Mimi all by himself to a private Specialist hospital in Gwagwalada, where she had the second surgery following delivery and insisted on a third surgery for a flimsy reason of constipation despite vehement disagreement by Ngumimi’s elder sister and other family members that they should return home and explore taking fruits. Akuraun failed to heed the family’s warnings against a third surgery, knowing fully well that Ngumimi may not survive the multiple surgeries within the short time of 2 months leading to Ngumimi’s untimely death to achieve Akuraun’s ultimate goal to kill her.

Ngumimi suffered social embarrassment from her husband and deprivation of social ties with her friends/mates. Ngumimi was mostly treated as an outcast and rejected by her hubby and family relations because she couldn’t conceive and deliver a child for Akuraun (her husband) early in the marriage. Akuraun and his siblings shifted attention to the second wife and ignored Ngumimi, leading to more anxiety and trauma.

Since Ngumimi's 14 years of marriage, it's in April 2023 that God blessed her with the fruit of the womb. She died on Tuesday, June 20, 2023, of complications from multiple surgeries leaving a two months old baby boy, who is under the care of our elder sister, Mrs Doose Joyce Iorpuu nee Kachina in Abuja.

Akuraun Iyortsuun returned to Makurdi after the death of Ngumimi and just paid the house rent for his second wife at Nyor Gyungu, Makurdi. The house agent just intimated me about Akuraun, as he just discovered after the death of Ngumimi that she is my younger sister.  When we were looking for money to pay for Ngumimi’s hospital bills and feed the newborn baby in Abuja, Akuraun had money, but was busy paying his new wife’s house rent and didn't care about Ngumimi’s bills and newborn baby.

Ngumimi, the Kachina, Yakubu Amaichigh, Tar Shande families, friends, and mates will continue to miss you. We thank the Lord God for life, healing powers, miracles, and for providing our needs.
Lord God, You have the final say about us, and Your decisions are normally final and beyond our control. We really adore and appreciate You Lord God, and please, help us to be victorious against our enemies.

The Lord God’s High Calling Time is the Best, and this is the Time set aside by the Lord for Ngumimi. Our sister Ngumimi is gone, and we’ll never see her again until the Lord’s second coming or His High Calling (death). Rest in the bosom of the Lord, and enjoy the everlasting peace.

Adieu Linda Ngumimi !!

Our condolences to her family.
