Rev. Fr. Alia Reacts To Herdsmens Killing In Yelwata, Benue state

Yesterday, some fully armed herdsmen attacked Yelewata,a community in Benue state killing over five persons.

According to Evadoosh sources, the armed men stormed the community, immediately opened fire at women and children killing five people at a spot.

Alia/Ode- Alialization '23 Campaign Organization, Kula Terdoo ,said he is particularly saddened that precious lives were lost in the attack and the locals made to suffer physical and psychological trauma of different degrees.

He wondered why the attacks are coming against the border communities at a time the people should be preparing to harvest their crops.

"These are communities that are majorly agrarian. They were prevented by these same attackers from farming at the scale they usually do.

"Could this be a deliberate plan to ensure our people don't farm again? Is it that these attackers want total famine to befall us? 

He called on the state and federal governments to be more serious with ensuring the protection of lives and properties by working together in providing adequate security to ensuring the attackers are properly tackled in order to prevent reoccurrence.
