Rev. Fr Alia Running Mate, Latest Update

The All Progressive Congress ,APC, BENUE state chapter today held a meeting with zone C elders in their bid to pick a suitable running mate for Rev. Hyacinth Alia and unfortunately, it ended in deadlock as no decision was made.

According to my sources, they were asked to come back home and deliberate on it for final resolution.

I was told that the Idoma elders however, pledged their full support to the realization of the Alia's governorship but insisted they want to nominate a deputy governor by themselves without interference from the Tiv people.

Like earlier reported on evadoosh blog, the Idoma people asked the party to stick to zoning which favours Apa/Agatu bloc but some political heavyweight within the party,specifically from the Tiv speaking axis were instead pushing for Sam Ode, who hails from same local government with the serving deputy governor,Benson Abouno.

They reason for picking Mr Ode, is that he is an experienced politician who would bring his wealth of experience to the Alia-led government.

At the end of the meeting,no decision was made and in other to beat the deadline for submission of names which is today, July 16th 2022 , a "DUMMY" deputy governor's name was submitted pending the final day since there is a window for substitution next month, so consultations continue.
