Tukura is said to have petitioned the Niger State Acting Chief Judge, Justice Halima Ibrahim Abdulmalik, for the transfer of his case, which involved a piece of land and was being ruled over by Justice Gambo of High Court No. 6, from her court.
The defendant stated that the suit that he filed to claim possession of the disputed parcel of property with the case number NSHC/MN/173/2021 was now being heard in High court No. 6, which was presided over by Justice Gambo.
In his petition to the acting chief judge, he demanded that the case be moved away from the court where it was currently being heard because he claimed that the plaintiff in the case involving the disputed land, Malam Isah Nagoji, had given the land in question to the judge who was presiding over the case.
In her response, Justice Bilkisu Yusuf Gambo submitted a Direct Criminal Complaint against the defendant to the Chief Magistrate Court No., Hauwa Kulu Isah. She also asked for a police inquiry into the claims that the defendant had made against her.
After passing the complaint along to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) for a covert investigation, Chief Magistrate Hauwa Kulu Isah arraigned the defendant in court for prosecution following.
As a result, the defendant was taken into custody and charged with four counts related to instigating a disturbance, using language that was abusive or insulting, criminal intimidation, and spreading false information that caused injury.
According to Abdullahi Mayaki ASP, who is the head of the prosecution unit at the SCIID, the charges violated sections 393, 399, 397 (b), and 114 of the penal code.
However, when the accusations were read to the defendant by the presiding Chief Magistrate, Hauwa Kulu Isah, the defendant pled not guilty to the allegations, and the presiding Chief Magistrate ordered that the defendant be remanded in correctional custody.
After that, Magistrate Isah postponed the matter until July 7 for any further mention of it.
