UPDATE: APC National Body 'Takes' Decision On BENUE Governorship Primary Election

The controversy which followed after the All Progressive Congress,APC, BENUE state chapter declared Catholic Priest , Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormen Alia as it winner may have been solved following a new decision taken by the party.

It could be recalled that the party had conducted a Direct mode of primary elections which led to Guber aspirants like, Kaase Aondoakaa SAN,Hon. Chief Steven Lawan, Prof. Terhemba Shija , Mathias Byuan and Senator Barnabas Gemade rejecting the election results.

Shortly after Rev. Alia was announced as the party's flagbearer, the aggrieved members filed complaints to the APC Appeal Panel to register their grievances were they responded.

Princess Uzoama Onyema, the Chairperson of the Benue State APC Appeals Panel in her reaction said said;

“Benue APC Publicity Secretary, take this message to your Chairman, you people have failed us.

Ladies and gentlemen, we have come to a final conclusion.
I wish you all that you wish yourselves. If you wish to do injustice, you will fail, if you wish to do good, you do good.

It is up to you whether you want to win this state or you want to lose it.

“We have come, we have seen, we have heard and we will deliver our bombshell according to justice with the fear of God,”

However,the Appeal Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has recommended the nullification of the governorship primaries of the party in Benue State.

The appeal committee, in a report submitted to the National Chairman of the party, Sen. Abdullahi Adamu, on Saturday in Abuja, said the exercise should be nullified, to avoid the agony of not fielding a candidate in the 2023 governorship election in Benue State.

The report was signed by the Benue State APC Primary Election Appeal Committee Chairman, Barr. Uzoamaka Onyeama, and the Secretary, Gyang Dung Gyang.

The panel's report reads:

“The few result sheets the aspirants presented to us had more curiously no agent of the guber aspirants or agent of the declared candidate to prove the results sheets produced and declared genuine.

“It is the submission of the Appeal committee members that form the foregoing, the past event of Zamfara State and the most latest and potent danger of Anambra State; that no governorship primary held in Benue State and we recommend as follows; that the NWC cancel in its entirety the gubernatorial primary election in Benue State and conduct a fresh election.”
